Wisdom teeth

I have good reason to believe that my wisdom teeth is growing and this is bad. My left hind gums are hurting terribly and if the pain does not cease anytime soon, I will be forced to take desperate measures. These include going to Unity to get aspirin. Past experiences tell me to ignore the pain and wait for it to go away. Any advice to share with an ailing girl?

Happy New Year!

May everybody have a happy and prosperous new year with wishes and dreams fufilled. May people be at the receiving end of all good things.

The Sunday Philosophy Club is a book by Alexander McCall Smith. Its content is not about any philosophy club but rather about an accomplished philosopher who one day witnesses a man falling from the gods. Instinct tells her that the man didn't just fall. Together with her niece's ex-boyfriend, both embark on a not so dangerous journey to unravel the truth behind the fall. The author tackles the mystries of life through philosophy.

Couch potato

11 hours of sitting in front of the television. I spent the first six hours in the morning watching christmas movies on Channel 5 (9am-3pm) and the next two hours watching Baby's Day Out from the same channel at 5pm. Had to, haha, coz I had unknowingly missed Home Alone 3 on Friday!!! I still love Home Alone even though I had watched the series many times. Too bad they didn't produce more Home Alone movies.

Will be watching Love Concierge, the project runway and the debut drama serial, Grey Anatomy... Cool huh.. Couldn't watch Vertical Limit at 7pm coz of dinner.

Shall go shopping for clothes tomorrow after I complete some of my tutorials. Merry Christmas and a happy new year everybody!

I watched princess diaries for the second time and enjoyed myself :)

I've just bought Carrie's (Underwood) new album, Some hearts ! Wonderful cd!!! Her voice is surprisingly clear.. For once, the recording company did justice to the idol's vocals. Also, I've found out that John Stevens from AI Season 3 have his own album! Surprising huh.. His cd could make it to Singapore but not latoya's :( He is a good singer but I still prefer Latoya.. I personally feel that her recording company didn't capitalise on her strong vocals as demonstrated on television. Instead, most of the songs in her album were slow as heard on the net.

Special thanks to Aunty Deborah (mum's boss) who have been giving us Christmas presents since we were young! Sel got a deck of magic cards and he is trying to show off the magic tricks that he had just mastered.. I have yet to open mine :) haha... Waiting for Christmas to open..

Yea! Daddy is discharged today. But I'm feeling kind of sick today. So I took the powerful flu tablet after lunch. Hmmm... the tablet is supposed to cause drowsiness but I didn't manage to sleep at all for the whole afternoon. This is weird, coz I usually do not have any difficulty sleeping in the afternoon.

Feeling better now after having taken the medicine. I have been having bouts of hunger pangs recently. Maybe it's because I've been exercising too much lately! :) ha... Calories are being burned out at a super duper fast rate!

There are many shows which I am yearning to watch. I want to watch King Kong, the descent and NARNIA!! Anyone have any narnia books to lend? ;p

Bad day

Feeling lethargic today but still met up with Pang Shen for a game of badminton. Dunno why I didn't sleep well last night... We were supposed to meet at Tampines mrt station at 9.45am and as usual I was late again. Pang Shen looked different from the last time I met him. His curly hair is definitely much much longer to the extent that I almost couldn't recognise him at first sight. The sports hall was fully booked so we couldn't play from 10am-11am :( So we settled for the 12 o'clock slot. As it was way too early to eat lunch, we walked aimlessly around Tampines mall and century square wasting time away.

During that time I was kind of preoccupied with thoughts and so we didn't really talk much. I was also in no mood to talk because Daddy told me that he is heading to the hospital about the small lump on his back. Haiz.. I was worried... I was split with the decision of continuing with our planned game and heading back home to await daddy's return. I wanted to be there for Dadddy but at the same time, I didn't want to disappoint Pang Shen.

So I had a lousy game. My body was not ready physically and my mind wasn't into the game. Sorry Pang Shen. Oh yea, he thrashed me 15-3... But the next time I'm gonna beat you down!!!

When I got home, mummy called to say that daddy is being hospitalised and need a minor operation on his back. I froze when I heard the word 'operation'. Freaky word! 'Hospitalisation' is another bad word in my dictionary. Damn... Initially, I thought it will be a touch and go thing.. I felt uneasy the whole day..

We (Selwyn, mummy and I) reached CGH to see daddy in the evening. Daddy said that the operation will only be a minor one and reassured us. He could even joke with us when we were there! His words immediately put me at ease and I was glad to see him. He said that the operation will be done tonight and that he may be discharged tomorrow. When we were about to leave, three nurses came to take him to the waiting area.

Two hours later, mummy told us that the operation was successful and that Daddy has regained consciousness. I felt relieved immediately.

Shopping again

Just came back from shopping with my mother. We bought lots of stuff, but most of them were for me. HA! I managed to convince my mother to sponsor me for this shopping extravaganza(correct spelling?). Today's haul includes 2 pairs of green socks, 1 pair of pink socks, a very hot, stylish and chic white belt bought from century square's open concept shop found on the second level and aeroso, for polishing tarnished watches and other things.

Next on the list: choker, more t-shirts and flats.

My eye caught on this very nice white necklace/choker. Seeing that mummy had already spent lots of money on me and kept on offering me to buy more stuff, I did not ask her to buy me the necklace/choker. It costs $20 and I guess I'll just go to the shop again on another day and I'll buy it if it's still there. If it's mine, it's mine.

After our 2-3 hour long shopping trip, we went to see the adventurer, Khoo Swee Chiow who is currently submerged in a water tank. We saw his wife, son and mother. Mummy said his son looks exactly like him. The personnel gave (the son) a piece of drawing block to write for his daddy. What he wrote struck a chord in me at that moment.

Daddy, I miss you, Please come home. Then the little Khoo Swee Chiow showed the note to his father.

Is it worth it? I asked myself. Is it worth to sacrifice your time with your family to pursue your dreams? Being an ardous adventurer is no small task. Lots of time have to be spent to build his body up physically and to train himself mentally. Besides, the 'adventures' that he engage in are to a certain extent, life threatening.

Records are created and broken, all the time. By breaking a world record, he achieves fame and possibly a greater possibility of securing a sponsorship for his next feat. But what good does it do to Singapore? This is from a logical point of view.

An adventurer will always be an adventurer. We are not in any position to question his actions. Personally I would like him to succeed because then he would become the person who overcame public scrutiny to accomplish his feats. An icon to remember.

I went swimming again. Bad day to go coz it is more expensive on sat. From an economist point of view, the demand to utilise the swimming facilities on sat, sun and public hols is greater and therefore the demand curve shifts to the right with the supply curve remaining the same. Therefore, the price of utilising the public commodity will be greater. And dats why I had to pay an additional 20 CENTs!!! HA! Anyway, when I was just about to finish swimming, it started pouring heavily. Luckily I had enough sense to get myself out of the pool and into the showering cubicle before the crowd :) HA! So I didn't have to wait at all! There was no sun today so I didn't get a chance to bathe in the sun :(

Cycling

I went on a fruitful cycling trip today. I cycled near Yumin Pri Sch to buy some postage stamps and at the same time, posted all the christmas cards. Cycled for 1 hr around my block and played at a senior citizens' playground. Sheesh... Relished my childhood moments by eating Twinkies, something like Smarties and had a stomachache after that. Last episode of The Rainbow Connection today. I hope Jian Yi goes together with Xiao Qian.

I went swimming this morning and swam for almost 2 hours!! I kept swimming on and on, lap after lap, immersing myself into the cool pool under the hot sun. The result, tanned face, tanned arms, legs and back. However, upon close scrutiny, reality finally started sinking in..HA! It dawned to me that I had an uneven tan!!!! But never mind... Kind of satisfied swimming in the ( not- adult and at the same time, not- baby 1m pool). I shall cycle later in the week...

HAPPY BDAE TAB!!!

Sick

I am sick of using the computer, sick of being sick and sick of everything. Therefore, this will be my last post of the week. Funny, time flies when I'm not doing anything productive. Wish that I can turn back time and enjoy the first week of the Nov hols again.

I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I have to admit that while the plots created by JK Rowling in her previous books were bewitching, this latest book of hers, sadly, cannot be measured up to its predecessors. Harry Potter seemed to have lost its magic to charm and engage the readers as his previous books had. Instead, a large portion of the book were devoted to, in my opininon, teenage emotions between Hermoine and Ron. Sadly, this is a book that lacks substance. The plot only starts to unravel only in the latter part of the book. Also, too much reading for a long period of time gives me headaches.
