ATabby's recommendation, I went to Blk201 to make my specs at a reasonable price. Mine is a blue half framed pair. It was difficult to choose as they had many colours, including red. But I didn't choose red in the end as it was too intimidating. As usual, the optician was like 'Aiyoh, how long have you not changed your specs?' and I was like 'oh, 3-4 years only'. His tone was like really scary lah, he kept emphasizing how my degree has increased so much. I didn't know i had astigmatism too... According to him, the degree on my right eye is twice that of the left. I've always thought that my left eye was worse.. Haiz..

OUT!

Last Friday, we set off to JB for our very short trip, main purpose is to have seafood for dinner. We set off on a rainy Friday morning. After we cleared the customs, we settled for chicken rice nearby. The chicken rice left much to be desired coz the rice wasn't warm and the chilli was far too sour. But it was okay as we were hungry. Before checking into the hotel, we bought tapoica chips (both the dry one and the chilli one) and a packet of keropok. Then we bought goreng pisang, fried sweet potatoes and my favourite cimpedak. It's really fragrant and sweet. You can even eat the seed when the seed is properly cooked! Btw, the seed is the size of the durian's seed. The seed is soft and tasteless.

We checked into Crystal Crown hotel which is near Pelangi. We didn't get the hotel that we initially wanted, which was, The Zon as they were fully occupied. The ambience at the Zon is truly fantastic. Very colonial, just like the Fullerton hotel. One thing I couldn't stand though was the cigarette smell. After staying at various hotels, I observed that you can roughly judge the quality of the hotel by first glancing at its reception and the lounge. I think that is the most important because it gives people (and potential guests) the first impression. If you feel good about the reception, chances are, you will love the hotel. And by a good reception, I mean, marbled steps into the hotel, doormen to greet you. A big vase of flowers sitting high above you. Great interior design with a waterfall/fountain maybe. Furniture also...for guests to rest while the other checks in. A grand piano with a pianist playing some classical/jazz/pop music behind. Great spiral staircase leading customers to their award winning restaurants. Bell boys, great service with good security in the lifts. Different hotels tell different stories. Anyway, moving back to the Zon, the Zon is not located in the city.

So we had to take a cab down. We shopped around the shopping mall there and when the night came, we proceeded to this seafood place which was very near The Zon (that's why we wanted to stay there initially!). We ordered something like soon hock fish with black bean sauce only that it wasn't soon hock, forgotten the name of the fish. Sambal kangkong, sweet and sour pork, clams for my parents, satay and one other dish that I can't remember. As usual, I concentrated on the fish and the sambal kangkong. When the fish came, I lounged for the gravy as it really is the nicest things, among others... Like the chicken rice chilli, I spread the gravy onto the white rice. The kangkong was a bit salty but was still heavenly. It was so slimey lah. As it was very hot (spicy also), I didn't chew on it. So I let it slide down my throat. At one point I was about to choke! Ha ha. After dinner, we went back to the hotel just in time for me to finish bathing to watch the 9pm chinese show.

The next day, we had a hearty breakfast though there was much to be desired also. They didn't have a wide variety of food. Went back to the room to sleep, and pack and we had chicken rice for lunch again but this time at a different place. The chicken rice was fantastic! And we came back home.

Finally, my brother finished reading Harry Potter and the deathly hallows and I started reading it on Saturday afternoon. Thank goodness nobody leaked out anything or it would have spoiled my story.

On Sunday, met Badariah and we went to Queensway shopping centre. I didn't fancy anything there so it was such a disappointment given that I've hyped about it for months. Oh well.... I will only buy a pair of shoes if I have a strong feeling towards it. The shoes have to choose me.. read... the wand chooses its owner... Post potter blues... We had lunch at Clementi. Had Malay Chicken rice and it was good!

La la la. I'm back. Finally got my medical check up over and done with. When I reached Tampines, I met Tabby to buy Clara's birthday present. It was nice to catch up with her after so long. Birthday presents are a huge headache! Combed almost both tm and Century Square.

Lately, I have a craving for baked rice, hot & sour soup and black pepper chicken noodle. Haiz. I keep thinking about Crystal Jade's hot and sour soup. Shouldn't have drank it that day! As for black pepper chicken noodles, haiz, it has always been on my mind. Eating it is just heavenly.

My FIRST attempt of trying to exercise after so long..

It seems that the weather is telling me not to swim. The weather is destroying plans!!! But then again, it's the best time to sleep...

Rain rain go away...

Harry Potter & the order of the phoenix

Contrary to what my friends think about this movie, I think it is brilliant! You can't compare this movie to its previous ones because the focus shifts at every book/movie. The only problem with the movie? It is too short. Cho Chang's character wasn't fully developed. They didn't develop on after her betrayal. Like maybe she was forced, she didn't get a chance to explain herself. Her relationship with harry... hanging up in the air... Maybe their fledging relationship is to be continued in the next movie... hmmm..

Transformers

I think that the movie has a lot of sound effects but little substance. I was bored and confused towards the end of the movie. Besides, it was painful to the ear.

FREEDOM!
Working there has been bittersweet. Bitter coz of the working environment but sweet because of the friendships forged and the tonnes of fun that we had there. On our last day, we went to Swensens. It was my first after so many years. Service was good and the lunch was worth every dollar paid. Mine was fish and chips and hers was breaded chicken. The executive lunch consisted of drinks, soup, the main course and ice cream in that order. All that for $13.90. After the main course, I thought we were done. But the waitress gave us these long dessert spoons. At that time, we thought we had a good deal already, to be served dessert... was something extra. We were even guessing if the waiteress had made a mistake. Service, as I said earlier was fantabulous. The food was served promptly etc etc way much better than delifrance.

I'm in luurve... and that person is...

Kang Ji Hwan!!! ( I juz found out from wikipedia). Handsome riight? See val, the person you saw that day on tv was him, but a sad, drunk one. That's why he didn't leave much of an impression on you. My heart flutters when I see his picture.

Next Mon will be my last day already. I've made plans for the whole week already. Swimming, meeting up, Harry Potter, Queensway, eye treatment etc etc... Today was supposed to be my eye treatment cum make over. But I forgot to call the person and change the date. But the person called me instead and I rescheduled it to next Wednesday. Anybody free to go?

Lately, I've been watching Korean shows. I'm hooked to the K-Wave! I've even stopped watching tv programmes recently! I think watching korean shows can actually improve my chinese as they speak in chinese and the subtitles are also in chinese. There's something about these Korean shows that make me think about them even after watching it. I guess it strikes a chord in my heart which reverberates and comes on so strongly.

Medical check up
I went in the afternnon and the queue was so freaking long. The wait is even longer than that of the polyclinic. Predictably, I failed the eye test. I couldn't see anything and thus I resorted to guessing. Did the dreaded urine test and guess what? I have to come back 2 weeks later just for another urine test coz 'the aunty' chose to come at that time. Aargh!!!

On a brighter note, I'm meeting Carlene today to get the Be Strong, Geum Soon dvd!!! Yeah!! But before that, I'm going to ntuc to read 8days.. haha.. shh..
