I am a little bit disappointed with my results. Actually, more than I would like to admit. It's unthinkable but yet, I didn't have much confidence for this sem's results. I'm just thankful that it wasn't disastrous. But I'm comforted that I tried my very best but things just didn't go as I planned and hoped that it would be. Too much of uncertainties... I would never know how well I did for Korean since I SUed it. But I hope it was a wise choice. It was a gamble which could have gone either way....

It's time to stop dwelling about the past and work towards the future, making good decisions and being less distracted....

All I can say is.............................................Darn you... O sole mio!

and..... I just don't know what went wrong.... why I just can't seem to get it.

23rd Dec 2008

Went to the Tampines Sports Complex for badminton with my friends in the morning. Very long time since I last exercised.

Caught Twilight with Tab. It's an okay show- a bit too cheesy, lacks a stronger storyline. Then after that, we went to Kallang Leisure Park (together with Clara) for some ice skating. We were laughing about the below $5 gifts that we were supposed to buy and Clara said she hoped she won't get Tab's gift-after hearing what Tabby bought in the last minute.

After the skating, we were supposed to randomly pick a number that corresponds to someone else's gift. While waiting in the line, we were scrutinising the wrapping of all the presents on the table, trying to tell which is a not-so-desirable present and which looks good.

During this time, Clara reiterated that she hoped she din't get Tab's present and in retort, Tabby said she hoped Clara gets her present. It was then when I remarked that the smallest present on the table will prolly be a small glas cup or something- think those soju glass cups- something that I wouldn't wanna get. So when it was our turn, Tabby's wish came true- Clara got Tabby's present and Tabby got someone else's present. It took a while for them to find the present that I was supposed to get- while they were searching high and low I was secretly wishing that it would be something big and good.

To us, we think big presents are the better presents. I mean- if u see a small tiny present, what can you think of? It can't possibly be a ring from Soo Kee Jewellery.... It would prolly be an accessory at best and something unthinkable at worst maybe. And no, my wildest fantasies did not come true. I got that tiny present, the one that I predicted would be a small glass cup.

We laughed at the presents that we got while opening them and Clara said that I got the worst present- which I agreed. Hahahaha... well, initially.... It was a bottle labelled "Cool Slime". It reminded me of the slimy stuff we used to play in primary school and I was throughly disappointed. I offered to give the present to Tab's and Clara's bros. But their sisters rejected my kind offer. Hahahahaha.... Clara got two tins of sweets from Tabby and Tabby received a flash light and some IQ games.

When I saw the slime, I immediately assumed what it was- for playing purposes. But Clara read the label and pointed out that it is actually a playful cleaning agent. A newly hired secret cleaning agent for keypad and keyboard cleaning. Immediately, I took a liking to the present as I realised its practicality and better worth (then what I had conceived initially).

and then the anti-climax.....

Clara had a slight migrane by the time we left the mall. The bus ride made it worse and we cut short our trip to take a cab back home. Clara vomitted in the taxi but thank goodness Tabby brought a plastic bag and the cabbie was very understanding about it.

But overall, it was a fun day.

PS: I received another present and guess what- it's another small present. I would be lying if I say that I was over the moon at its size. But I should know better not to judge a present by its size or wrapping. I haven't opened it yet though- keeping my fingers crossed till 12am in the morning...

BKK- Pattaya Trip 13-18th Dec

We had a great time and the trip was well worth every dollar spent. We visited the Sriricha Tiger zoo, the crocodile farm, the snake farm, Dream world, the safari and the elephant zoo. Not forgetting the aqua show (transvesitite show). I have the impression that Pattaya is more of a sleazy place brimming with night life. The elephant, tiger and croc shows were entertaining but I liked Dream World the best. Lots of rides and Go-Kart! Our 3 meals were taken care of for the whole time as it is a package. The food was good. We visited the wan-ton mee street stall for the second last and the last night. The stall's still there after 2 years, together with the omelette stall. I had the delicious grilled chicken at Chesters Grill at MBK. It was a great experience overall.

Back from Tab's chalet. I had a great time playing games and all that. Finally finished packing my bag for the trip later. Shall catch some rest before I leave.

Latest about the fate of the mynah. It fell into the toilet bowl as I was told- but it didn't drown. My father finally decided to catch the mynah with a plastic bag and set it free. No, it wasn't flushed away. Hahahahaha......

MINAHS INVASION!

I just came back from lunch with my father and to my horror I saw 2 minahs in the kitchen. The kitchen was in a bit of a mess. 1 was sitting on the window ledge and the other was inside the kitchen- sitting on the window ledge too but is blocked by the sliding windows. So it's trapped. The minahs were communicationg with each other prolly strategising the escape route for the baby minah that was trapped inside the house. It can't really fly see, so it's a problem to me at least. After several unsuccessful attempt to getr itself out, it clung to a nearby cloth by the end. It went to my toilet next. ANd now, even while typing this- the baby minah is still stuck as it can't fly out. My father insists on letting it learn how to fly. Now, the mother minah is looking for its offspring- to the extent of going to my window ostensibly looking for its baby. How? I'm scared. Hahahaha.

Latest- The mama minah is inside my house- to my horror! again. This time with something in its mouth. It's taking food to its baby. It came in despite us closing the window- through the small toilet window no doubt. Eew.... Now I can't find the baby minah in my toilet anymore. Where did it go? I'm leaving my room and windows closed for the next 2 days.

AAAAhhhhhh... It's trying every window in my house!!!!!!!!! Trying to come in....GROSS.... I just hope the baby minah can get out soon so that this episode will be over.

I'm leaving for Tab's chalet soon!!!! Yippeeee. Bye bye MINAHS!

Oh Crap (2)

As I lay on my bed thinking about random stuff, first about my friends, then about Tab's birthday chalet and finally thinking about birthdays. Realization hit me. I quickly jumped out of my bed and grabbed my handphone, which was lying on the desk. I realised that I missed Xian's birthday! I was quite sure that it was in november but I was hoping that that it was in december. I am really really really sorry for missing out. Really. I don't usually miss out on dates. Aargh... How time flies. 2 days before the korean paper, and now 2 weeks and 1 day late. Aargh... Usually I store these dates on my handphone and I will get an alert at 8.31am in the morning. It could be that I didn't turn on my phone for the day or I didn't turn it on in the morning.

After the exams, I have been spending most of my time at home- reading and watching shows. I am a homely person..hahaha... I don't usually go out of Tampines unless I'm supposed to.

But I won't be at home for almost the whole of this week. I predict a busy week ahead. Haha. I have to pack my clothes for Tab's chalet stay-over for thurs and fri. On Sat, I have violin lessons in school before I leave home for the airport for..... BKK... hahaha... My friends have warned me how dangerous it is now. I hope it won't be that chaotic over there. And I can't wait to have the lip smacking grilled chicken over at MBK.

I've just finished reading a book entitled life expectancy by Dean Koontz. I'm not a fan of his but this book is really entertaining. I finished the 500 odd pages in 1 day. It's an interesting book. Beyond interesting actually. Life expectancy is not defined by how long you live but rather what you expect from life.

It's nice to stay at home and read a novel for the whole day while lying on my bed :) I'm happy that Cristiano Ronaldo is the footballer of the year. Haha... I was expecting some major upset especially after some of his recent performances.

I have been feeling weird lately. I need to keep my emotions in check and stop picking at everything. Haiz.

Last week was a week of.......... trying new things!

I went to ecoparadise with my mother last friday. It's near the swimming complex and has a Japanese feel to it. Really calming and peaceful ambience. We went there for the hot bed therapy. It's a detox place... so we were given this antioxidant drink that tasted like water and I was sceptical (still am). But before the antioxidant water, we went to change into their outfit. A baggy looking pyjamas that felt like towels. It was a bit scary to see females perspiring all over with red faces. So after drinking, we went into this 50 degree Celsius room that had calming jap music playing in the background. The floor was very very hot. Stepping on the tiles was terribly hot for someone like me who is not really used to bathing in warm water. We laid the towel down and lied on top of it for about 40mins. ( I kept looking at the clock on the wall though, counting.. and waitinf for time to fly past). It was not as bad as you imagine lah...it's bearable. After which, we drank pineapple juice from small soju glasses that tasted a bit like alcohol- strong and a bit bitter (I'm not a fan of pineapples).

Overall, it was a great experience :)

The unmentioned weekdays was otherwise spent watching taiwanese and korean dramas. I watched Romantic Princess-yes, the one with Wu Zhun- he's a bit overrated? Oops...
and I watched Hello! Miss... the korean drama that competed with my favourite Witch Amusement for viewership last year. Both are good in their own way...just that witch amusement gives me a very lasting impression, it touches my soul and makes me yearn for..... Ok, enough of he drama! It's time to make plans for exercising!

In conclusion, I still love Korean dramas. I think it is something different and of course I can catch some of the vocab- now that I've learnt a little bit of Korean... My friend once told me that Korean dramas are more of a fantasy, it dosen't happen in real life- which is quite true. Maybe that's the reason I like it. It's not so real unlike the Taiwanese dramas (that has some kind of flavour which you can feel with it). Very hard to describe lah... It's like watching another boring channel 8 show as compared to a korean drama that knows how to mess with the viewers' feelings.

On another note, the little nyonya on channel 8, 9pm really opens me up to my own culture. I remamber doing a project about the peranakans when I was in primary school and I had a lot of help back then- my grandmother, aunt, counsin and my mother etc etc. I think I did a superficial job as compared to this show.. really, all I did was to search for books in the library, pictures, took some photographs from my grandmother's home- the beaded slippers, the krosang and kebaya. To be able to watch what practising the culture was really like is fantastic. To quote my mother...." if my mama were still alive, she would have lots to comment about"....

On a side note... I'm thinking of.... skipping the camp for violin beginners :(
